Atlas American Staffordshire Terrier Adult Male in Billings, Montana

My story
This handsome brindle boy is named Atlas and he has been a beloved member of his family for the past 5 years. At approximately 7 years old, Atlas lives with another female staffie/pit bull mix and two children ages 4 and 2.5 years old. His mom says he loves our little girls and is really great with them. It’s just that he doesn’t seem to understand playing and sees everything as a threat to the kids. When we are rough housing or playing or tickling them, Atlas becomes protective of them and so is often on the defense towards my husband. He’d do better with slightly older kids who are more independent and less loud/high energy.  Although the family does not have a cat currently they used to and Atlas was mostly indifferent to him. Here is the other information that was provided on Atlas:

Great on the leash. Doesn’t pull, loves to smell anything and everything.

Has lived with chickens and is fine. Would be a great ranch dog!

Alone 3-5 hours a day. I work from home so mostly on weekends. He loves coming on errands and riding in the car. He is not crated and has free roam. He doesn’t chew shoes or anything like that but does love to chew throws…

We don’t currently have cats but used to and he was fine with them, almost afraid.

We have one other dog, a female pittie who is about 55 lbs., medium-sized. We had her first and got him as a companion, but he’s shown to not be interested. He likes to play tug of war with humans but when it comes to playing with her, he snarls and has a hard time. He is much more interested in people. We’ve had dogs over to our house before, and he does really well, especially with smaller ones or if they’re big but chill.

He has always growled around his resources.

He’s a Velcro dog! He loves walks and hiking and is great on and off the leash.

Like I said, men can be scary for him so takes someone who is patient and warm. Loves people overall though!
